Easter Monday trek

Our goal for Monday was to get to St Michael’s Mount. It’s the island rising from the ocean in the distance of this below photo.

From Penzance, it is a 3 mile walk to Marazion and then at low tide, you can walk on a causeway to the island. We took the coastal path.

Bought tickets to hike up the island to the castle which was once a priory, then later a fortress.

Now it’s just a tourist attraction. But with good views.

Back on the mainland we stopped for lunch where I tried to dry my socks which got a bit wet from walking on the beach.

Enjoyed some local crab.

Then we walked back as the tide was coming in.

What with a dead end detour and a side trip for some wine, we walked over 25 kms.
