Dresden was heavily bombed in WWII but much of the historic centre has been restored from the rubble.
The royal castle:
A mural of Dresden’s history made with Meissen porcelain tiles:
Cathedral:
Elbe River:
We stopped for over two hours so had time for a quick visit to the Altes Nationalgalerie to look at some paintings including Raphael’s Sistine Madonna and Vermeer’s Woman Reading:
A quick lunch at the cafe at the gallery, outside where the temperature was 32:
Two and a half more hours on the autobahn and we were back to Berlin where the temperature was 34. We’re told this is very unusual to have such hot weather.
