Back to Berlin

Little more than two hours of driving took us from Prague to Dresden. The area of Bohemia is very picturesque with castles on hill tops:3A44B013-85FE-4523-925B-471822767BF8_1_105_c

Dresden was heavily bombed in WWII but much of the historic centre has been restored from the rubble.

We stopped for over two hours so had time for a quick visit to the Altes Nationalgalerie to look at some paintings including Raphael’s Sistine Madonna and Vermeer’s Woman Reading (no photos allowed):

A quick lunch at the cafe at the gallery, outside where the temperature was 32:282F9CD4-5846-4303-92BE-353BA042462E_1_105_c

Two and a half more hours on the autobahn and we were back to Berlin where the temperature was 34.

We’re told this is very unusual to have such hot weather.
