National Gallery, more shopping in the rain and Gordon Ramsay

We left in our shirt sleeves relying on the weather prediction from BBC that rain wouldn’t start until 7 p.m..

We had lunch at the National Gallery Dining Rooms.

By time we looked at some of the Gallery, including the newly cleaned Leonardo Da Vinci “Virgin of the Rocks”, it was 3 p.m. and raining.  We took a taxi to Harvey Nichols to do some shopping then returned by taxi.

For dinner, we went to Gordon Ramsay at Claridges.

We opted to take the tasting menu.
John Dory and scallop

venison and foie gras

salmons with horseradish sorbet
venison and couscous

lemon pannacotta with hibiscus and fig
chocolate, raspberries, popcorn, creme fraiche
After 3.5 hours of consumption, we were given a tour of the kitchen then moved to the lounge for more drinks, truffles, and mango passion fruit gellies.  The obviously wanted the table for another sitting but it was a very gentle way of moving us on.

Finally, we were back out into the rain to taxi back to the flat where we started packing up to return home as our vacation inevitably must end.  Sigh.
