Diciassettesimo giornata: one Caravaggio and the route to the scuola

I had a relatively uneventful day as I worked on my homework for a good part of the morning.

I went out to Sant’Agostino to look at the one Caravaggio painting, the Madonna dei Pelligrini or Madonna di Loreto.

I did a quick sketch. I haven’t worked on sketching people much and there was nowhere to sit where I could see the painting so I should call it an outline rather than a sketch.

When I left for my class, the streets seemed quite busy including some people who did not look like tourists.

The walk from my apartment to the scuola requires I go past the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. I have been trying to find ways to avoid walking into those crowded piazzas but not add to the length of my walk. As this was to be my fourth walk to the school, I was feeling I knew a route that avoided the heavily touristed areas.

The Giolitti gelateria had a very long queue so I didn’t stop.

Of course, I went down a street that did not lead me to where I thought.

The small, crooked and sometimes dead end streets are numerous in the area.

But I eventually recognized these trompe l’oeil windows which are next to Santa Maria delle Pace, which is near the school.

I’ve got more than two weeks to get this figured out.
