Easy morning as we packed up for Cork, the second largest city of Ireland. We returned to the train station

where a dog was being trained to sniff luggage

retraced our route to Mallow.

Had to change trains at Mallow for Cork.

Cork train station isn’t very large. It’s named Kent station in memory of Thomas Kent.

A short but slow taxi ride got us to our hotel, River Lee. It’s pretty modern looking.

The River Lee divides around an island which is the location of the city centre. We went looking for some late lunch.

At Dwyer’s pub, I tried ginger beer which turned out to have alcohol. Scott had a sandwich and I had a salad. No photos of the food.

An unusual looking church on the nearby street

The courthouse

Another part of the south arm of the river

Cork has light grey granite and red sandstone in many of its historic buildings which is why the city teams’ colours are red and white.

The colours are seen in a lot buildings historic as well as more modern.

There are a lot of bridges crossing the river.

The spires are Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral also used for musical events

Saint Fin Barr or Finnbar or Fin Barra is the patron saint of Cork.
We returned to the hotel and did some sketching in the bar and restaurant area which looks north towards the river.

Later we had dinner there but I forgot to take any photos. We seem to be getting over jetlag fairly well but we called it an early night.
