Giornata 55: Dal Parrucchiere

I think I have a form of numbers dislexia. When I booked a haircut, I wanted 1:30 in the afternoon but using the 24 hour clock, I asked for undici (one ten) which is 11, not 1.

So mangez la verre as we say in our family. Suffer or face up to your mistake. I had to skip out on the conversation portion of class to go to the parrucchiere (hair stylist). Don’t know how but without using a curling iron, the stylist made my hair curlier than it has ever been.

After some lunch and gelato

and after some grocery shopping, I tried to see Ghirlandaio’s Cenacolo (Last Supper) in the church of Ognissanti. I had to make a big detour because the police had roads closed.

I found out later that the President of Italy (head of state, not head of government) was in the city.

But the Last Supper is reached through a separate door outside, which was closed.

In checking for open hours, I failed to realize the church has different hours than the Cenacolo, which is in the refectory. I checked again and discovered the fresco can only be seen Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. Moreover from October 30-November 1, it is closed. I may have to skip class again.

The Arno was very calm so I enjoyed nice views walking back. I definitely got 10,000 steps in.
