Giornata 32: Lezione di cucina

Start of the second week of Italiano and there were three new students: two women from the Netherlands and one from Japan.

In the afternoon, we had a cooking class. We met at Piazza Santo Spirito, a place I have been in a number of times this trip. From there, we walked to the cooking school, which name I’ve forgotten.

We made pasta, half into tagliatelle (wider noodles) and half into ravioli filled with ricotta and cavolo nero (Tuscan kale).

Kneading the pasta by hand is hard work, especially for noodle-armed me

Watching how to fill the ravioli

Then we made fresh tomato sauce for the tagliatelle and a tiramisù. The ravioli was served with butter and sage.

I even managed to flip the sauce as it cooked

Then we ate what we made.

This is the biggest tiramisù I have ever eaten and I didn’t fill my bowl like some people did.

We finished by about 6:30 pm, a time when Italians would not consider to even begin eating dinner. An aperitivo with some bites of food, yes; but pastas, no.

I went back to mio appartamento to listen to an online talk about Fra Angelico. Saw a beautiful view of the moon on the way.
