Giornata 31: Domenica tranquilla

Slow Sunday morning because it was pouring rain, and I needed to fare il bucato (do laundry) and i compiti (homework). And I cooked the vegetables I bought Saturday morning into a ratatouille. If I added olives or capers, it would be an Italian caponata but didn’t have those ingredients.

When the sun came out after noon, I went to Piazza Santa Croce where there was a fiera della ceramica (ceramics fair). Did not buy anything although there were lots of beautiful and breakable things.

Wandered around and ended up in front of San Gaetano, which I recognized because it’s on Piazza Antinori. Haven’t been to Cantinetta Antinori, one of the first restaurants we went to in Florence in 2009.

Looked inside Santa Trinità and noticed the Lorenzo Monaco Annunciation is missing. It must be at Palazzo Strozzi for the Beato Angelico exhibition because he is believed to have been Fra Angelico’s teacher.

I had made a note to go to Via Toscanella for street art. The street is near Palazzo Pitti and Santo Spirito but it looks like much of the street art has been painted over. There was no more than the usual amount of street art.

I quick sketched the door and windows of il mio appartamento, which are the two upper windows.

Went for a group aperitivi “alla romana” (everyone pays for themself) at Rifullo, right across the street where I had dinner on Saturday. It was nice enough to sit outside.
