Roma: day 17: ad libbed wandering

Our day was slowed by dealing with washing machine problems. When that got sorted we headed out to visit sights in the area.

Santa Maria delle Pace, which I sketched 15 days earlier.

Then to Piazza di Pietra, which was not open to the public when we were here in 2018.

Then Sant’Ignatius Loyola with its illusionist ceiling by Pozzo.

There was a long queue to look at the ceiling with the mirror.

From there, we bought gelato from Gunther’s. Carmen also bought cannoli.

then looked into Torre Argentina.

Then looked into Chiesa Nuova which is directly across from the apartment building and we look at every time we exit:

but the Rubens were mostly covered by the renovation.

There was a presepe.

And a copy of Caravaggio’s Deposition.

Dinner was at Pianostrada where we sat at the bar of the open kitchen. The restaurant is known for innovative Italian cuisine.
