After present opening and our Italian version of Christmas Morning Lifesaver (made with mortadella and provolone), we went for a long walk.

First to Borromini’s San Carlino.

Cloister

Then to San Luigi dei Francesi to see Caravaggio’s Matthew paintings.

At San Salvatore in Lauro there were more figures than a week ago including baby Jesus.

Then across the Tiber River to St Peter’s.

In the Bernini Colonnade, there was a display called 100 Presepi. They were amazingly different and sometimes quite skilled.

Then back to the apartment to cook Christmas dinner that included chicken with head and feet still on. The necks and innards made stock for gravy.

The feast of roasted chicken, roasted potatoes, gravy, ratatouille, romanesco , radicchio salad and braised artichokes.

Followed by the big clean up.
