Orta San Giulio on Lago (lake) Orta was very beautiful.  We went because it was supposed to be one of the least visited lakes. Unfortunately, we arrived on Sunday, June 2, Republic Day in Italy, a holiday, so many people were day tripping from Milan, which is less than 90 minutes drive away. And a lot of people have recreational property here as well, so not quite so undiscovered as we thought it might be.  The very narrow streets were sometimes very crowded. The walk along the lake shore was pleasant with beautiful views.
