Despite my alarm not going off, Scott woke at 5:19 am and by 5:35 we were walking to the airport terminal from the hotel room. Travel was more or less as scheduled. We lunched in Houston during our 2 1/2 hour layover.
We landed in New Orleans at 3:34 and by 3:48 we were in a taxi speeding in the city. About 20 minutes to get to our hotel.

Our hotel Le Marais is in the French Quarter or Vieux Carre where the streets are quite narrow. The hotel is on Conti Street with lots of buildings with the city’s distinctive iron railings on the balconies.
After skyping Sidney, we headed out for a walk around. The heat and humidity were intense. The Mississippi River was supposed to have crested on Monday. Looked like there’s at least 3 feet before it could over flow, so I think we’re okay.
Had dinner at Emeril’s. I liked the look of the place. It was very busy for a Monday.

After dinner, we walked back to the hotel in the heat and humidity which had only slightly abated. We checked out the bar at the hotel and took our drinks (in plastic cups) to sit by the pool which had water only slightly cooler than a bath. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this kind of heat and humidity. We’re wondering if we will get used to it by the end of our stay.
