This is our last full day in Firenze.
While Scott slept, I walked to the church of Ognissanti to see Ghirlandio’s Cenacolo (Last Supper). But it was closed.

I checked the website which said it was closed last week but nothing about this week.

I waited just in case it would open later. Inside the church itself is a Ghirlandaio fresco of San Gironimo (St Jerome)

Also one by Botticelli of Sant’Agostino (Saint Augustine)

Botticelli is buried in the church.

After more than 30 minutes the Cenacolo still wasn’t open. I noticed another person had been waiting as well but I gave up and returned to the hotel. The Cenacolo will have to remain on my Florence to do list.
I noticed this crazy looking building which seems under restoration:

My walk back to the hotel:

Back at the hotel, the view from the room in daylight:

We walked towards Sant’Ambrogio via Piazza della Signoria

stopping at Santa Croce:

We went for a lunch of lampredotto, a Florentine specialty: the stewed fourth stomach of a cow which is served in a bun with green sauce and optional hot pepper oil.

A food truck in the Sant’Ambrogio neighbourhood was made famous by Stanley Tucci.

It has a vaguely offal smell but quite mild taste. Without the sauce, it would not have much taste.

Stopped at nearby Il Procopio for a gelato.

We then went looking for some where to do some sketching. Santa Croce was nice and sunny but we did not see a good place for sketching. Then we walked to Piazza del Duomo to have some wine and sketch at an outdoor cafe.

We finished our day at Osteria dell’Enoteca with another Florentine specialty, bistecca alla Fiorentina.
