Giornata 60: Fare il bucato

The title means doing laundry, which was the most important thing on my list for the day since I will need to pack up soon and want to make use of the washing machine. It doesn’t make for interesting photos.

While the machine was washing, I returned to Loggia di Lanzi to try to finish my sketch of Perseus and Medusa. These photos turned out better as you can see the back of Perseus’ head has a helmet with a face that some people have suggested is a self-portrait of the sculptor Cellini.

Cellini wrote an autobiography that claimed a lot of sometimes incredulous things, like he killed people and was a spy. He was certainly a good artist and a big self promoter.

It’s November and some places already have Christmas lights.

Orsan Michele which is surrounded by fewer tourists

I needed to take out garbage. These are the bins, which require a trek downhill, where I can deposit recycling and garbage. Florence’s system of recycling and garbage is complicated. Some gets collect but much is deposited in various (from what I see, inconsistent) bin systems. This group of bins has no where to deposit paper. Other big blue bins have a paper recycling bin.

This is one of the routes back to the apartamento. I noticed (after over 5 weeks) that there’s a balcony overlooking this road.

Behind the building I’m in, there is construction, I’m told, for a hotel or possibly apartments. If that’s true, it will have a central location with a great view, in a quiet area, but on a hill.
