Woke up to rain and 19 degrees but it felt warmer to me. Very comfortable.
It was a busy day at the Accademia. There were people working in the sculpting room whom I had not seen before as well as an instructor I had not seen before. The day was also busy for me but not a lot to report. I finished my Ponte Vecchio sketch.

My instructor this week, Stefano, and my instructor from last week, Michele, both thought I did a good job with the perspective.
I then started a Duomo view from Santissima Annunziata, where we went to on Tuesday last week but this view is from a more extreme angle. I spent an hour and a half but gave up trying to correct the disproportions on this try.

My second attempt was better but because it took me so long to do, I had very little time to paint.

My project for tomorrow is obvious. I can see in the photo that I have a lot of angles wrong.
After school, I resumed my gelato hunting. This time I crossed Ponte Vecchio to Oltrarno. First stop was La Sorbettiera which did not have cioccolato but had nocciola, which was very good. I also had Crema Fiorentina, which was like Buontalenti.

For my second stop, I tried La Cantina del Gelato. The cioccolato was very intense chocolate flavour but I didn’t taste like it had any milk product in it. I liked it but it tasted more like a chocolate bar than gelato. The nocciola was not a strong hazelnut flavour, maybe because the cioccolato was so powerful; it was good, although not in the top tier.

The gelati were both size piccolo but were quite generous compared to some of the other piccolo servings I have had.
To get a bit more exercise, I walked past the Biblioteca Nazionale (National Library) and discovered the drum shape rooftop I have looked at and sketched is part of the library.

For dinner I went for my first pizza since arriving in Firenze. Caffe Italiano is recommended because it has a wood fired oven.

I couldn’t finish my pizza Margherita. (Gelato may have had something to do with my appetite.) The pizzaiuolo (pizza maker) urged me to “porta via” (take away) but only had one size box.
