Our big adventure was a 10 minute taxi ride to the town of Playa del Carmen or at least the touristy part. Scott wanted to ring shop. Less than 30 minutes and three tequila shots later, he had accomplished his goal.
We then walked the entire length of 5th Avenue or Quinta Avenida, the touristy street that parallels the beach.

It was 30 degrees and 72 percent humidity. That was why we decided not to walk or cycle from the resort. Walking the street was effort enough.

We walked to a wine store at the far end of the avenue and bought some Mexican wine (spending a lot less than on rings). By then it was time for some lunch.

We returned to the resort and cooled off in one of the many pools. We spotted more wildlife—coati, raccoon like animals.

They were eating out of the organic waste bins and totally unfazed by all the people around.

There were a lot of them.
One was outside our room.

We see the agutí walking past our patio in the late afternoon. We finally got some good photos.

A brief but intense downpour ended the wildlife spotting. Luckily we were on our patio and not on the beach like an unfortunate wedding party.
