Quarantaduesimo giorno: heading home

Met Allie for breakfast before she needed to get to the university to work. Hope we see her again before too long.

Then back to finish packing. Housekeeping wanted us out at check out time so they could get on with cleaning the apartment.

This meant we had three hours at Ottawa’s airport which is small especially considering it is the airport for the nation’s capital. It wasn’t busy but there isn’t much to do. We left a bit late.

But we arrived in Calgary early after the most uncomfortable airline ride of our entire vacation. We had been flying business but even the standard train seats on the oldest Regionale trains were more comfortable. At least on a train you can stand up and easily get to the bathroom. The WestJet seats were so narrow and tight they did not even have room for me to cross my legs—and I have the shortest legs of almost any adult. Plus there is something so hard about the seats that it makes my knees ache.

I was sad to have my travels come to an end but getting off that plane was such a relief it almost amounted to pleasure.
