Trentasettesimo giorno: to Ottawa via Paris

I found no direct flights to Ottawa from London or Italy on KLM or its code share partners so we went via Paris. Annoyingly, the flights I booked were cancelled shortly after I booked so we left a day earlier than originally planned. The first flight from London was at 9:00 am. This meant a 6:00 am departure from our hotel for a car ride to Heathrow.

The drive early in the morning took a bit over 40 minutes. We arrived at Heathrow and went through security relatively quickly despite Scott getting extra inspections for reasons that were unclear.

But then our flight was delayed which was worrying because we did not have a lot of time to make our connecting flight.

We landed in Charles De Gaulle airport in the foggiest conditions I have ever seen.

We arrived at terminal 2E, building K and then had to walk quite some distance to the tram to get us to building L where we went through security, again.

I nearly fell over when the tram started as I was taking this photo.

We eventually got to our gate with only 15 minutes before boarding then were told the flight was delayed because the incoming plane had been late. So we waited.

We finally boarded and then were told there was a problem with the loading ramp and they needed to get a mechanic. At least we got a glass of Champagne.

Because of the initial delay, we lost our spot for take off and had to queue for another time slot. We sat on the plane for an hour and all told it was an hour and a half delay before take off. At least sitting in business it was relatively comfortable. I had my book and the entertainment system was working.

We finally landed in Ottawa half an hour late but made it to our apartment. Not a very eventful day, but tiring.
