Quick visit to Montreal

While Scott was at his annual fall conference which took place in Montreal this year, I enjoyed a visit to the Musée des Beaux Arts. The museum has expanded since I last visited in 2019. I spent 4 hours and only went into two of the four buildings and didn’t see everything in the two I visited.

I really enjoyed the old European works.

The above is the only full length Gainsborough portrait in North America.

A special exhibition was for the Montreal artist Francoise Sullivan.

I did a lot of walking as the weather was pleasant (for November) and enjoyed the architectural details of some buildings.

Sunday we looked at Sainte Marie Reine du Monde, a church designed as a smaller Saint Peter’s in Rome.

The conference was at the Queen Elizabeth hotel, where we stayed. A nice view from the front doors:
